Cross-modal results

By summing the results of the project for EU28 over all transport modes and calculating the percentage difference between 2005 and 2010, the following conclusions are made:

  • Fuel consumption from transport sector has slightly increased from 2005 to 2010 (0.6%).
  • Passenger activity (pkm) increased from 2005 to 2010 (3%).
  • Freight activity (tkm) decreased from 2005 to 2010 (-4%).

Total fuel consumption, pkm, and tkm from transport sector are shown in the figures below as percentage share (%) per mode of transport (EU28, 2010).
